Find Franklin County Traffic Court

Start with the court named on your citation, because that office holds the Franklin County traffic court record you need. State-law tickets usually land in the district court system, while city ordinance tickets stay with the municipal court that issued them. To look up a Franklin County traffic ticket, grab the citation number, confirm which court has the case, and note the appearance date listed. The docket then tracks what happens with the citation. Payment, diversion, and calendar options all depend on that court and that ticket.

Traffic Case Records in Franklin County

A Franklin County district traffic docket can show the charge from the citation, the court assignment, hearings, the plea, diversion events, and payments. It also shows the final disposition. Two separate tools come into play. Kansas CaseSearch supplies public case information. A judge webdocket PDF offers a reference report of settings, and it can go stale after a reset or continuance. District calendars have listed traffic numbers in a pattern like FR-2026-TR-000123. Treat that as one district-calendar format, not a universal city citation template. Each municipal court keeps its own citation and docket practices. So read the issuing agency and court address on the ticket. Then pick a portal or clerk.

State Ticket or Ottawa Ticket

The official Franklin FAQ draws a clear local line. Kansas Highway Patrol tickets route to Franklin County district court. So do tickets from the Franklin County Sheriff's Office. An Ottawa city ticket, though, belongs to Ottawa Municipal Court. For any other city ordinance citation, start with that city's municipal clerk.

Never apply Ottawa payment rules to a Franklin district citation or to another city's ticket. A municipal judgment can reach Franklin District Court on appeal under Kansas law. Still, the original city clerk remains the starting point for the city record.

CaseSearch may show only an index, with no citation image attached. Kansas Supreme Court Rule 22 keeps specified citation documents off the portal. Ask the clerk whether you can request a public copy instead of reading the missing image as a missing case.

Municipal Traffic Access Varies

Ottawa Municipal Court sits at 715 W. 2nd Street, and the phone number is 785-242-5333. Its official court page covers pleas, appearances, procedure, and appeals. The city payment page links to the official vendor. It is not a public name-search docket.

Wellsville Municipal Court meets at 704 E. 7th Street. Its official page lists a general first-Tuesday session at 4 p.m. That schedule never replaces the date on your ticket. A ticket with a stated fine may be payable before court. One marked “Court” requires an appearance. The online payment route may be down for maintenance. Then rely on the clerk, mail, or the counter. Pomona posts an official calendar with a Municipal Court category and date-range controls. It offers no party or citation search. Richmond and Williamsburg offer no current public case-search page. Call each city clerk rather than copying another city's process.

Traffic Court Dates in Franklin County

For a district case, the Franklin Court Calendar links to the judge webdockets. Open the PDF you need. Then run Ctrl+F on the case number, party, attorney, judge, or date. Read the whole row. A later reset can sit below an older date. Check for more than one setting before you assume anything.

Case or citation numberThe key used to match the ticket to the right court file.
Date and timeThe listed setting, subject to a later order or reset.
JudgeThe judicial officer assigned on the report.
Setting typeArraignment, hearing, bench trial, diversion status, or another label.
Courtroom or remote noteLocation or logistics, not permission to use a private meeting link.
Free-text noteA short calendar instruction that does not replace a signed order.

The county itself warns that its calendar reports are for reference and can omit a recent change. If the setting is close, or if sources disagree, call the Franklin clerk at 785-242-6000 or the municipal clerk named on the citation. The current signed notice or docket entry always controls over an older PDF.

Franklin Pay-It Diversion

The Franklin Traffic Pay-It Diversion Program is a district option. Its policy took effect January 1, 2025. It covers only eligible Uniform Fine Schedule infractions. Commercial driver's license holders are excluded, along with listed serious or disqualifying offenses. Eligibility is never automatic. The application must reach the court within thirty days after the first scheduled appearance. An approved participant pays the original fine and court costs first. A separate program fee is due within thirty days. Dismissal comes only after every required term is met. Read the current official policy for exclusions, submission steps, and amounts. Paying a citation by itself does not create a diversion.

Diversion is a conditional case path. An application, payment, or status entry alone is not the final Franklin traffic disposition.

Paying a Ticket vs Fighting It

A payable ticket and a required appearance demand different moves. Payment generally resolves the citation under the court's terms. It can carry a plea effect that the court describes. Contesting it preserves the court date. You keep your chance to present a defense under court procedure. Either way, do not miss the setting. That holds even while an online record or payment page loads slowly.

Failure to appear or pay can trigger added court action and possible license consequences. Contact the court named on the citation at once.

Franklin Payment Plan Approval

Franklin's traffic and criminal payment-plan form asks the court for more time. It is only a request. Approval is never automatic. You supply the defendant name, case number, plea selection, and reason for needing extra time. Also include your current address, a proposed monthly payment, a requested plan length up to one year, and possible community service. Court staff use the remaining fields for approval, review, compliance, and balance tracking.

Send the form back through the Franklin clerk counter. Or fax it to 785-242-5970. Or mail it to 301 S. Main, Ottawa, KS 66067. The judge decides whether to approve or deny it. Hold onto the signed result and every paper-review date. Until the court acts, a submitted form changes no deadline.

Franklin DUI Record Context

The Kansas 2024 DUI report lists 29 Franklin criminal filings and 21 traffic filings. Its disposition total also includes carryover matters. Do not add the groups and call the sum fifty people or fifty convictions. A filing is simply a new case entry. A disposition, though, can involve a case filed in an earlier year.

DUI shows up in both criminal and traffic reporting. The individual docket is what tells you the court, charges, events, and outcome. Annual tables only measure local workload, never a person-level case history.

Two Records: Court and Driver Files

A traffic court record and a state driver record are two separate files. Different offices hold them. The Franklin clerk or municipal clerk keeps the court case. It can show the citation, plea, hearings, diversion, payment entries, and disposition. The Kansas Department of Revenue maintains the driver record. It has reporting and correction procedures of its own.

Filing proof of insurance with Ottawa Municipal Court is a compliance step. It happens in the city case. It is not the court disposition. It also does not make the court clerk responsible for the state driver file. Each agency corrects only its own record, so use that agency's own correction route.

Pomona Traffic Calendar Limits

Pomona's official city calendar can be filtered to Municipal Court. Date ranges run from the next seven days out to the next year. It is a city event calendar. You cannot search it by citation number or party name. The clerk, not the calendar, holds the fee schedule. Quote no Pomona fee amount from the calendar route.

Call the Pomona municipal clerk at 785-566-3522. Ask them to confirm a citation date, the current fee, and how to pay. A calendar event may help you locate a session. Still, the ticket itself and clerk confirmation identify the case-specific obligation.

Traffic Record Copy Fees

Franklin County publishes no comprehensive traffic-record copy fee schedule on its official district pages. Kansas CaseSearch shows no public docket-view fee, but that promises nothing about free copies or document access. Before ordering, ask the district clerk for the current plain-copy, certified-copy, electronic-delivery, and staff-time charges.
